Well an update is long
overdue and there has been a lot going on over the
past few months at the farm as well as some more
fabulous news from the owners of Kelaray stud bred
horses.
Congratulations to
Connie Fischer and Lush Ks recently they competed at
the Victorian Arabian Championships and won Champion
AWB Junior female.
We
also made the trip in January to see Connie and Legs
compete at the Melbourne Royal. Ray was excited to
show Lush Ks [photo left] for Connie at the show,
and they did very well winning her AWB junior female
class, and also placing in the Warmblood & Sport
horse classes. Connie is very excited about the
future with legs as her future dressage horse. We
can’t wait to see them competing under saddle
together.
Also in January Jassur
Ks competed at the Taranaki A & P show with his
owner Tanya Mcginty taking out the Champion Purebred
title, later on in the month they also competed at
the Taranaki All Arabian A Class show.
Against some very tough
competition Jassur won the Champion Purebred
Gelding, and TOP 5 led Purebred Arabian. Such an
amazing result for a young horse.
Recently we purchased a
lovely riding pony mare Willowcroft Chorus (
Willowcroft Vagabond x Baroness Vera) from Burren-dah
stud in Australia. Chorus is a lovely broodmare that
will produce some outstanding offspring for the
stud. She has been bred to Crave FF for a 2011 foal.
At this stage Chorus will remain in Australia until
she foals, once re-bred she will return to NZ.
Our first show for the
season was the North Island All Breeds Show with
fabulous results. “Deveron Airs n Graces” [photo
opposite right] and her filly foal at foot
“Spellbound KS” were prepped and taken to the show
for the 2 days of showing. Young Spellbound KS
taking everything in her stride, and winning and
placing in all of her classes. Grace showing that
she isn’t quite ready to retire from the show ring,
taking out the Champion Senior Arabian Derivative
and also the Grand Champion Arabian Derivative (over
several multi supreme led show horses). Grace won
every broodmare class she was entered in including
the Arabian Derivative, Sport horse, Show hack and
Warmblood rings. Grace topped it all off on day 2
of the show, winning the Supreme Led Broodmare of
the show award, against some stunning broodmares
from all the other rings. We are so proud of Grace
and her achievements as a led show horse, but also
as a broodmare.
Recently we heard that
her daughter Graemar Sense’ recently won the Supreme
Led Arabian / Derivative award at the Grand National
Show,, as well as the Reserve Champion Ridden.
Sense’ has been a superb mare for her owners winning
numerous Supremes led & ridden in open company in
the south island. Also the lovely gelding Graemar
Fendi has started his ridden career already racking
up Championship wins in the Park Hack rings.
Also in January we took
both Aloha Touch of Class and Deveron Airs n Graces
with foals at foot to the NZ Warmblood Inspections,
held at Matthews Hanoverians. The guest judge was
part of the ACE tour in Australia Mr Gerd Kuest from
Germany. A marvellous day was had by everyone at the
inspection. Both our mares scoring very highly on
the inspection and the young Guess KS being awarded
“Premium Status” . Guess scored numerous “8’s” in
the inspection… including 8.5 for walk and 8 for
trot, and several 8’s for conformation. This just
proves that the breeding programme we have chosen is
on the right track.
Weaning took place in
late February in preparation for the NZ National
Arabian Championships, the decision was made to take
only the two babies to the show. As a first outing
for our Guess Ks we took him to the Kaitaia A & P
show. We are so proud of our boy as he took it all
in his stride. And just loved the attention he was
given by passers-by. Guess was a star for the stud
winning the Yearling Sport Horse and placing in all
his suitability classes. The highlight of the show
was being awarded the Reserve Champion Led Sport
Horse Junior against some very nice 2 & 3 yr old
colts and fillies. We received some lovely comments
on him and also on his movement. He is very proudly
offered for sale and we know he will be a star in
years to come.
